Director, Business Development

Position Summary:

Our Business Development Director works closely with the Analytics team, Business Process team and Client Solutions partners to ensure the overall success of selling data-driven marketing solutions to new clients. We are looking for overachievers with a passion for selling solutions that build business for middle to large enterprise customers. If you love a challenge, then this position is for you!

Business Development Executive Responsibilities Include:

  • Generating leads through professional networking and other lead generation techniques
  • Creatively identifying and developing relationships at the appropriate executive levels to pinpoint and understand their needs, then effectively communicating our solutions and services
  • Utilizing a consultative sales approach, conduct discovery calls, presentations and close opportunities with our senior-level executives
  • Managing complex offerings and multiple engagements simultaneously
  • Coordinating online and onsite meetings of key decision makers
  • Participating in pricing strategy and conveying contract terms within the acceptable guidelines provided by the owners
  • Ensuring a smooth transition from the sales stage to the delivery stage (seamless hand-off from sales to service). Working with internal resources to ensure efficient delivery of analyses, solutions and services

Internal Leadership Responsibilities Include:

  • Implementing the organizational sales strategy, while assessing and enhancing all components, including marketing materials. Developing account strategies, business cases and value propositions for Anthem's solutions and services.
  • Managing business development efforts with the internal Marketing support team
  • Owning and managing Anthem's pipeline in our CRM system
  • Leveraging and enhancing Client partner relationships to drive additional value and revenue
  • Additional responsibilities may include ongoing management for strategic accounts


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics or related degree
  • Extensive experience (5 – 8 years) in the sale of B2B solutions and services
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence and Analytics services, e.g. Customer Segmentation and Targeting, Promotional Analysis, Sales & Operational Predictive Analytics, etc.
  • Proven history of developing business through cold calls, book of business and marketing strategies
  • Proven prospecting and relationship-building skills in retail, restaurant and beverage and home service industries with an understanding of the procurement process
  • Experience in direct sales, Data Marketing solution selling and competitive selling to C-Level, VP executives
  • Ability to sell and present multiple solutions to Fortune 5000 companies (250M +)
  • Established track record of consistently exceeding corporate objectives and quotas
  • Successful experience at new and large account development
  • Ability to forecast and qualify opportunities, assess prospect value and forecast sales
  • Excellent communication, proposal development, presentation and negotiation skills
  • High levels of social perceptiveness and customer service
  • Self-driven, inquisitive, motivated and results oriented
  • The ability to travel, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills. o Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite applications and Salesforce CRM systems are required.
